Switzerland
I'm back from the Explorer trip to Switzerland! We stayed at the Mountain Hostel in Grindelwald, and the entire trip was great fun.
White Water Rafting: A high point of the holiday was white water rafting on the Lütschine. The water was a little low, but it was fun none the less. It possibly wasn't the best idea for my boat to form a pyramid at the front for a photo, as we tipped the boat up and all fell in. The water was rather chilly, and the rocks on the bottom of the river were a bit close.
Street Party: One night we went to a street party up the hill in the middle of Grindelwald. That was fun, and the band came from Manchester so we could understand everything that they said. We had a few drinks, and you'd be surprised at the amount of noise a few of us can make!
The Jungfrau: We managed to walk all the way to the cafe at the top of the Jungfrau, having got off the train at the highest station in Europe. It's incredibly tiring walking at that altitude, but at least I got a drink at the end. Apparently other people made it as well, but they didn't come in. We also saw the ice sculptures inside the mountain, and the view was amazing.
Bern: We went to Bern this time as well, and it seems like quite a nice city. I didn't think much of most of the shops though, but we did stop for lunch and I saw 4 McDonalds. We also saw the bears in the bear pits.
You can find my photos from the trip in the gallery, and I intend to add the photos from the white water rafting when I can get some copies… and I've added photos of my boat rafting to the gallery. If anyone has some pictures that they want me to add, just send them to me. I should probably get some more sleep soon, as I really haven't had much over the past 11 days…
